Pete Davidson wrote a heartfelt message on his Instagram page Monday. In it, the comedian and actor wrote about the past nine months, discussing everything from his mental health to online/real life bullies to even being suicidal.
Over the last year, Davidson broke up with ex-girlfriend Cazzie David, jumped into a romance with Ariana Grande to the point where the two were engaged in a much publicized event then eventually called off the engagement and broke up. He also got named in Grande’s empowerment anthem, “thank u, next” and also came into some fire for jokes he made during a Saturday Night Live sketch involving a wounded veteran.
Davidson’s message begins that although he’s kept quiet about most of the scrutiny he’s faced recently, he can’t stay silent anymore. “I’ve kept my mouth shut. Never mentioned any names, never said a word about anyone or anything. I’m trying to understand how when something happens to a guy the whole entire world just trashes him without any facts for frame of reference. Especially in today’s climate where everyone loves to be offended and upset it truly is mind boggling.”
He then goes on to talk about bullies, being vocal about him being diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, hoping that being open about the disorder will, “help kids like [himself] who don’t want to be on this earth. I’ve been getting online bulled and in public by people for 9 months. I’ve spoken about BPD and being suicidal publicly only in the hopes that it will help bring awareness and help kids like myself who don’t want to be on this earth,” he added.
Pete ended the post saying, “I just want you guys to know. No matter how hard the internet or anyone tries to make me kill myself. I won’t. I’m upset I even have to say this. To all those holding me down and seeing this for what it is – I see you and I love you.”
