2018 was an up and down year for those Spongebob fans. The year persisted with even more Spongebob related memes but also show creator Stephen Hillenburg passed away at the age of 57 after battling ALS. Although there have been numerous tributes all over to Hillenburg and SpongeBob all together, some Spongebob fans want to take it to another level – a major, major level.

There’s a petition on Change.org to get the SpongeBob song “Sweet Victory” played at the Super Bowl! And the amount of signatures are already over 1.1 million.

“As some of you may or may not know, Stephen Hillenburg—the creator of Spongebob Squarepants—has passed away recently,” the petition says. “As a tribute to his legacy, his contributions to a generation of children, and to truly showcase the greatness of this song, we call for Sweet Victory to be performed at the Halftime Show.”

If you aren’t familiar with the clip that has been turned into numerous memes in its own right, here you go:

Are Change.org petitions things that turn into law? Not necessarily but we’re definitely down to hear THIS Spongebob tribute.
