Arianators know better to expect jokes on April Fools Day when it comes to Ariana Grande. Less than a full month out from the release of her chart-topping Thank U, Next album, Grande has teamed up with good friend Victoria Monét for “Monopoly.”
The two first began teasing the track on Friday, without realizing that she needed a mastered version of the track and a little more planning to give it the full attention it deserved. Well, Ari went a step further. She didn’t just drop a final version of the track, she dropped a video to go with it!
Even if the track doesn’t currently exist on Thank U, Next, “Monopoly” sounds like something that was tailored for that album. Both Grande and Monet trade verses about friendship like board pieces overseen by Mr. Moneybags and how they’re just living and thriving in all aspects of life. Building on a confident attitude and more, it’s a celebration of success. “7 Rings” is still the No. 1 song in the country, the tour has been an absolute smash hit and at the moment, she’s been the most dominant pop star of 2019.
Maybe “Monopoly” will be ANOTHER No. 1 for Ari! Watch the video above.
