Following a biker gang shootout that left nine dead and more than a dozen injured in Waco, Texas, police are warning of revenge attacks from the motorcycle crews after 170 people were arrested and charged in connection with the mass shooting.

According to CNN, a memo has gone out to law enforcement warning officers that members from the Bandidos and Cossacks biker gangs have been “instructed to arm themselves and travel to north Texas,” the site writes.

“Obviously it’s something we’re concerned about. We would encourage biker groups to stand down. There’s been enough bloodshed. There’s been enough death here,” Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton told CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360″ on Monday night.

During the deadly fight, which was reportedly sparked by a bathroom altercation, bikers were beaten with chains, brass knuckles, and stabbed with knives. Many were shot. At one point, bikers turned their guns on law enforcement.

More than 100 weapons were recovered from the scene at Twin Peaks restaurant, where the fight broke out.

Now, police are on the watch for retaliation, both against the five gangs involved and against police officers.

From Reuters:

Bikers were reported to be traveling to the city following the shooting and police have been threatened, he said.

“There was a green light put out on law enforcement, is our understanding from last night. We are aware of that threat,” Swanton said. “This is obviously a very large investigation involving numerous agencies and organizations, and we are going to get it right,” he said.

Police arrested 170 individuals on a range of charges. Each faces $1 million bail.
