Chuck D of Public Enemy gave him the name Busta Rhymes, after NFL wide receiver George “Busta” Rhymes. Early in his career  he was known for his wild style and fashion, and today is best known for his out of this world rapping technique,  and to date has received eleven Grammy nominations for his music.

Busta Rhymes was both a member of Leaders of the New School and a founding member of the record label Conglomerate formally known as Flipmode .

In 1996 he released his first album ‘ The Coming’ that went platinum. His list of hit singles include “Woo Haa!! Got you all in check “, “Dangerous”,  “Gimme Some More”,  “Pass the Courvoisier”, among several others.

He’s worked with nearly every label and every artist in the industry in every genre, and is definitely considered one the GOATs!

In November 2011, Busta Rhymes signed a deal with Cash Money Records but later left due to creative differences in July of 2014. He is set to release his tenth album, E.L.E.2 ( Extinction Level Event 2), which will be a sequel to his 1998 album.

Today we salute the work of Busta rhymes on Boom 92 and wish him many more years!

Happy Birthday, Busta!
