Alright, the new trailer for A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood, the upcoming Mister Rogers biopic starring Tom Hanks is here and we’re doing our best to not cry at how emotional it is.
The film is inspired by the real-life friendship between Fred Rogers and journalist Tom Junod (Matthew Rhys). Junod was originally set to write a profile of the long-running television host and his wife, played by This Is Us star Susan Kelechi Watson says, “Please don’t ruin my childhood.”
“This piece will be for an issue about heroes,” Junod tells Rogers in the new clip. “Do you consider yourself a hero?”
He responds, “We are trying to give the world positive ways of dealing with their feelings.”
“There are many things you can do,” Rogers offers up. “You can play all the lowest keys on the piano at the same time.”
The feel-good trailer highlights the importance of kindness as you can see the effect Rogers’ nature has on people, especially in a scene on a train where a group of passengers sing the theme song to Mister Rogers Neighborhood to Rogers.
“Sometimes we have to ask for help and that’s okay,” Rogers concludes in the trailer. “I think the best thing we can do is to let people know that each one of them is precious.”
Watch the trailer below and again, we warned you about trying not to cry.
