We all know that summertime means doesn’t just mean bored kids, it also means more money spent.
Here are a few activity ideas for you keep in mind.
First off, don’t forget FREE THURSDAYS at the museums.
You have:
Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Buffalo Soldiers National Museum, Holocaust Museum Houston, The Health Museum, Houston Museum of Natural Science, Children’s Museum of Houston, Houston Museum of African American Culture.
You have to go and check for Thursday’s hours so that you can get in for free. Also, keep in mind the other ten museums that are free everyday too.
Next thing is more on the outdoorsy side.
There are events like, the big bubble under the preston street bridge.

You can go to the Buffalo Bayou and do boat tours at a fee for the family and you can see the Heritage Society at Sam Houston Park. They offer guided tours at a fee too.
You can’t forget about the Miller Outdoor Theatre either and all the cool shows and concerts they have there too.
What else can you do?
You can go and see the Bat Colony at the Waugh Bridge. It’s 250,000 Mexican free-tailed bats that fly from the bridge to search for their dinner. You are viewing from a distance, not up close.
There is also the Houston Public swimming pools around town and a number of Splash Pads too.
Here’s one that’s outside of Houston, the George Ranch Historical Park in Richmond. It shows you the start of the Jones family all the way to the George family and you are provided a tour their homes and experience their lives.
For another air conditioned setting, you can go to the Houston Library or the library in your area. Search for the library in your area and see what summer events that they are offering for kids this summer. Some might have nights for the kiddos or afternoon movies being shown too.
Go check it all out!
