Tupac is known and will forever go down as the Greatest Of All Time, not only for his music but for the wise words he spoke and his mental strength in standing up against oppression.

Was it in a name?  Shakur’s real name was Lesane Parish Crooks. Afeni Shakur, Tupac’s mother, renamed him Tupac Amaru Shakur a little under a year after Tupac was born.

Shakur was named after the South American revolutionary Túpac Amaru. Túpac Amaru was a South American revolutionary who led the indigenous revolt against Spanish rule. The revolutionary would be executed by his oppressors. “Tupac Amaru” means “shining serpent.” “Shakur” means “thankful to God” in Arabic.

He was a representation of both “Thug” and “Activist”. His revolutionary knowledge mixed with street knowledge made him a powerful unstoppable force that spoke to the hearts of his fans. He was controversial to some but to others he was the voice that needed to be heard.

Although he had legal problems, was portrayed by the media as a menace and accused of many crimes, Tupac was a humanitarian and stood up for those who couldn’t stand up for themselves. Misunderstood.

He didn’t live past the age of 25, but as young as he was, He left behind his legacy as the greatest, his timeless music and his immortal brilliance. He believed in compassion, He believed in Fight and Speaking the Truth. He didn’t use his music just to sell records but to influence the world, that’s why he will always be considered the Greatest Rapper that ever lived.

“I’m not saying I’m gonna change the world, but I guarantee that I will spark the brain that will change the world.”― Tupac Shakur

Those of us who remember watching him perform his music, act in his movie roles, and/or  were consumers of his records…

Will never forget Tupac , Today we remember him on what would’ve been his 44th Birthday.

I’ll leave you with a montage of interviews that will let you see just what Tupac meant to the world:
