It’s time to say farewell to “106 & Park.” BET has decided to take the show off of the air for a strictly all-digital show, BET reports.

MUST SEE: Where are the ’106 & Park’ VJs Now?

The show has had a 14-year run, which is pretty impressive since most video countdown shows have come and gone. The final episode will air December 19.

From BET’s Stephen Hill, President of Music Programming and Specials:

It’s been a great 14 year run as America’s top music/variety show on cable. And now that very valuable brand is going to take its talents to the digital realm. The interactive brand you helped build, 106 & Park, is alive and well…and it’s moving to the space in which our audience NOW interacts with music the most; online.

As we transition to the digital space, we look to continue 106 & Park’s role as both a leader of and a mirror to youth culture.

BET will continue to host their New Year’s Eve special as well as cover the BET Awards with their BET Experience.

Maybe they were feeling the pressure from Google? They just announced that they were putting out a subscription-based music service strictly for videos on YouTube which would allow the consumer to watch ad-free. That directly competes with their market.

Guess we’ll have to see what is to come for their hosts Bow Wow and Keisha Chante soon.
