Born and raised in Brooklyn, in 1986 at the young age of 16 Spin was introduced to Salt-n-Pepa’s producer Herbie Luv Bug Azor. At that time the group’s original DJ, LaToya Hanson had missed several rehearsals and group appearances, so the group was actively seeking a replacement.
Before her audition, Salt-n-Pepa had offered the spot to then-unknown radio and TV personality Wendy Williams, but Spin was selected as the group’s DJ, taking the name Spinderella.
The trio would go on to become one of the most successful female hip-hop acts of all time.
She has produced several songs on 5 of the group’s albums and has seen successful in earning several platinum and gold singles with several artists in the industry.
The group disbanded in 2002, but she continued work and even branched into a radio career as a personality and DJ on various radio stations in Texas.
Spinderella took her opportunity as a young girl and turned it into major success, and led the way for female DJs everywhere. She is also a  part of the American Diabetes Association Celebrity Cabinet, a TV ONE UnSung Ambassador, and founder of the Spinderella DJ Academy.
The group has finally rejoined and are currently still touring. Together these ladies have led the way for female rappers like MC Lyte and served as role models for women all over the world.
Today we salute DJ Spinderella of Salt-n-Pepa and many more!
