Everyone loves New Orleans for its legendary culture and cuisine, but it can be tricky to adapt those delicious dishes to your own kitchen table.
TeamBeautiful sent Chef Huda to New Orleans to find some of the city’s most delicious eats on our “Coke Crawl” and she tracked down one of the best recipes you can cook at home for your family.
Huda headed over to Oceana Grill with Chef Kenny, who broke down how to make the most mouth-watering shrimp creole dish we’ve ever seen.
Chef Kenny told Huda that the secret to the perfect creole dish is a delicious sauce made with his “Holy Trinity” of veggies: onions, bell peppers and celery.
Get your pan nice and hot so that your vegetables simmer and caramelize for about 15 minutes to get your sauce as savory as it needs to be. While your sauce is cooking to perfection, add your rice to the stove (just don’t stir it more than once, Chef Kenny said). Then add your shrimp to the sauce and cook for about 3 minutes and voila, you’ll have the perfect meal to earn the chef (aka mom) major kudos.
The best part is that the entire meal takes less than 20 minutes to cook. Enjoy your meal with an ice cold Coca-Cola and you’ve got a recipe for perfection.
