According to a report from The Journal News, rapper DMX was arrested for contempt of court.
The Yonkers-bred rapper was arrested at his home in Westchester County on a contempt of court charge for allegedly failing to pay $10,000 a month in child support to ex-wife Tashera Simmons and their four children. The child support was ordered in 2014.
A warrant was issued for Simmons’ arrest on a contempt of court charge in July. County police confirmed they and Yonkers police arrested him at 10 a.m. at a Yonkers residence.
DMX was released without bail after explaining that he has to perform at upcoming shows and canceling them would be bad for his reputation. “All I have is my name and my reputation,” he said to the judge, adding that performing is the “only way I can make a living.”
DMX’s next court appearance is November 18th.
