Jason William Mizell Best Known as Jam Master Jay originally from Brooklyn, NY!
1/3 of the Ground breaking group RUN DMC. Jam Master Jay had a musical background as early as the age of 3 & playing various instruments before moving to Hollis, Ny and discovering the Turntables at the age of 13!
With his background in music he caught on quickly and  started playing at parks and later played at bars. He also began throwing small parties around the area. Once he got a pair of Technics 1200’s he improved rapidly since he was able to practice at night with headphones on when he was supposed to be sleeping.
Soon after graduating high school he linked up with RUN & DMC and agreed to DJ for the Group!

Jay also produced most of their music , playing keyboards, bass and live drums for RUN DMC in addition to dj-ing
Later Jam Master Jay ventured out by starting his own record label and had success with groups like onyx, the afros, & launched the career of 50 cent.
In 2002, JMJ founded the Scratch Academy in Manhattan to “provide education and access to the art form of the DJ and producer.
On October 30, 2002, at 7:30 pm Jam Master Jay was shot and killed in a Merrick Blvd recording studio in Jamaica, Queens.
