Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need. – Malachi 3:10
$1.5 Billion Dollars! Let that sink in for a minute. One point five BILLION dollars. That’s how much the jackpot has swelled up to before tonights Powerball drawing. It’s just unimaginable and while most people have an idea of the first things the would do should they hit on all the numbers i.e… quit my job, payoff my debt, buy a new house, buy a new car I have only heard two people mention that the first order of business would be to cut a check to church. Why is that?
Is it that they don’t believe in tithing, or is it they don’t trust their church and the leadership of the pastor? (Which brings up the question of why are you even going there?)
I’m of the belief that you have to do the right thing even though others may not. I’d gladly give up $150,000,000 to my church. But also believe in my pastor and the direction he is leading the congregation. If you would have caught me 1.5 ago when I didn’t have a church home I can’t say that I would cut that check.
Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. – 2 Corinthians 9:7
