Congratulations to the Queen!

While Hollywood and the Hip Hop world are protesting the lack of minority representation at the 2016 Oscars, over the weekend the Screen Actors Guild Awards honored several minority actors and actresses.

Queen Latifah took home her third SAG award, winning Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries category, for her role as Bessie Smith in HBO’s Bessie.

Latifah had won SAG Awards in 2008 for for her role in the TV movie Life Support, and in 2003, for her role in the ensemble cast of Chicago.

Idris Elba also won big at the 2016 ceremony, taking home two statues for Male Actor in a TV Movie or Miniseries for Luther and Outstanding Male Actor Supporting for Beasts of No Nation. The cast of Straight Outta Compton was up for Best Cast in a Movie, but lost to Spotlight.
