The Houston Texans have released RB Arian Foster, 29, who is the teams all-time leading rusher. Foster is recovering from a torn Achilles tendon suffered in October and underwent groin surgery in August.
The Texans signed him as an undrafted free agent from the University of Tennessee in 2009. He has rushed for 6,472 yards and 54 TD’s. Foster was also a serious threat in the passing game as well with 249 catches for 2,268 yards and 11 TD’s.
Foster was due a $6.5 million nonguaranteed base salary heading into the final year of a five-year, $43.5 million contract. Foster was to be paid a $500,000 roster bonus and an additional $31,250 per game active.
Foster is coming off of back-to-back season-ending injuries and played 25 of 48 games in the last three years.
