0811-nwa-movie-poster-universal-3Get ready for one of the most anticipated movies in 2015, the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton, based on the story of the notorious West Coast rap group.

The film doesn’t hit theaters until August, but Ice Cube gave a sneak peek of the first movie trailer during a concert in Sydney, Australia. Several fans captured the bootleg footage and uploaded it to YouTube.

Directed by F. Gary Gray, the movie stars Jason Mitchell (Eazy-E), Corey Hawkins (Dr. Dre), and Ice Cube’s son O’Shea Jackson Jr., who plays his father. In the action-packed clip, we get a first glimpse at the Compton crew on the rocky road to stardom, including scenes of Dr. Dre in prison and a high-speed police chase.

Let me tell you what I see here: A lot of raw talent, swagger, bravado. People are scared of you guys, they think you’re dangerous, but you have a unique voice. The world needs to hear it,” says Paul Giamatti, who stars as Jerry Heller, N.W.A.’s manager and the co-founder of Ruthless Records.

Ice Cube spoke about the movie with Jimmy Kimmel on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
