In the wake of the tragic news of the passing of Afeni Shakur, the mother of Tupac Shakur, we wanted to give you 5 of our favorite hip-hop tracks that are dedicated to that special lady.
Only days away from Mother’s Day, the hip-hop community was shocked to hear about the passing of Afeni. The relationship between Pac & his mother was and has always been on display to the public. The good, the bad, the ups, the downs, Tupac never was one to hold back when it came to telling his story.
Fans of Pac hold a special place in their hearts for Miss Shakur, and through the music, I personally felt like I knew her just as much as my own mother! Not only did this happen days before Mother’s Day, reports just came out last week that the “All Eyez On Me” biopic were in the final stages, and we can only hope that his mother got to see the movie and was proud of the way it represented her son.
“When I was low you were there for me / And never left me alone because you cared for me / And I could see you coming home after work late / You’re in the kitchen trying to fix us a hot plate.” 2Pac
Though, like many people, Afeni dealt with many demons, but was able to turn all that around and raise her children and set examples for them that helped shaped the mindset of Pac, and for that “you are appreciated”, rest in peace Afeni Shakur, dead at 69.
