Salt-N-Pepa with their DJ Spinderella have been chosen as honorees at the upcoming VH1 Hip Hop Honors awards show.

VH1 brings back the Classic hip hop awards show with the focus on the ladies of hip-hop. In addition to Salt, Pep and Spin, VH1’s Hip Hop Honors: All Hail The Queens will feature a special salute to other pioneering female MC’s like Missy Elliott and Queen Latifah, the latter of whom is executive producing the event.

The Grammy-winning Queens rap trio is known for pushing their brand of female empowerment. After temporarily disbanding in 2002, the ladies got back together for the Hip Hop Honors in 2005 for a performance of “Whatta Man” with En Vogue.

Since its inception in 2004, VH1 Hip Hop Honors has recognized the vision of pioneering emcees who broke new ground and propelled the hip hop genre into the cultural phenomenon. The main event is set to take place live on Monday, July 11 at 8pm. CST from New York City.
