'The Fast and the Furious' Westwood Premiere

The actor Ron Lester, best known for his role as Billy Bob in the 1999 film Varsity Blues, died on Friday evening.

Lester’s agent David Bradley confirmed the actor’s death to Entertainment Weekly, citing the cause as liver and kidney failure. According to TMZ, Lester had been hospitalized for four months in Dallas.

Stemming from his breakout role in the 90’s comedy, the actor made TV appearances on television shows like Popular, Freaks and GeeksSabrina, the Teenage Witch, and CSI: NY. Lester, who at his biggest weighed over 500 pounds, had gastric bypass surgery to drop the weight.

We send our thoughts and prayers to Lester’s family.
