June 21, 1970 the world was given one of the dopest Hip Hop producers of all-time. By my estimation he is in the Top 7. (We will discuss that on another day.) In honor of his birthday I’m going to give you his Top 3 dopest beats.

1. “The World Is Yours” – Illmatic. It’s the greatest single from one of Hip Hop’s greatest CD’s. It was the perfect unison of dope MC (Nas) meets dope producer (Pete Rock). Bar none this is #1.

2. “They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.)” – Mecca and the Soul Brother. This song is a dedication to Troy Dixon of Heavy D in the Boys who lost his life in a freak accident. Who can forget those horns. They instantly bring you into this song and make you mourn for anyone you have ever lost.

3. “Straighten It Out”- Mecca and the Soul Brother Cause its just dope. That’s all that needs to be said.
