The Houston Area Urban League GUILD, The Alpha Nu Omega Alumni Chapter of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. and The Houston area chapters of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. have jointly scheduled a class for individuals to get deputized for Voters registration on July 27, 2016 at 6pm at the Houston Area Urban League office 1301 Texas Ave Houston TX 77002. The Harris County Tax Office – Voter’s Registration will conduct the VDVR training.
In order to encourage voter registration, Texas election law provides for County Voter Registrars to designate individuals to assist in the registration of eligible persons to vote. These individuals are appointed as Volunteer Deputy Registrars and operate under State rules and the supervision of the respective County Voter Registrar.
Attendees will be deputized to participate in joint Voter’s registration and “Get Out to Vote” drives The Houston Area Urban League GUILD, The Alpha Nu Omega Alumni Chapter of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. and The Houston area chapters of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. are having throughout the year of 2016 up to the general election in Nov 2016.
