Producer and writer Cheo Coker (Notorious, Southland) is the creator of Marvel’s collaboration with Netflix, “Luke Cage,” which premieres on Netflix Friday, September 30th. He stopped by the studio with composer and music producer Adrian Younge, as well as A Tribe Called Quest’s Ali Shaheed Muhammad, both of whom did the music for the show.

Cheo explains that “Luke Cage” deals with a protagonist who is a bulletproof black man (who also has other superpowers), that is new in the neighborhood, and how that affects him and community around him. He says that this project is a culmination of everything he’s loved and worked on his whole life, in regards to hip-hop and Marvel.
