According to Idolator.com, Missy Elliott revealed she will hit the studio with longtime collaborator Timbaland.
“I’m actually going down to be with Tim, and so we’re gonna get in and get some work done,” Elliott said in a radio interview before the Grammy weekend. She was asked if there was a new project in the works with Timbaland, she simply said “I don’t want to say too much, because in this day and time [if] you say something, they will come back two weeks later like ‘Um, where your album at?'”
Missy fans have been waiting on the follow-up to the album The Cookbook. Recently in 2012, she promoted a comeback album titled Block Party and planned to release it as her debut Supa Dupa Fly turned 15, which never happened.
Last year, Timbaland promised a new Missy Elliott single was coming. “We got the hollow-tip bullet in the gun. We have the game-changer right there,” he said to Rolling Stone — but nothing was released.
Could the recent strength of digital song sales from Missy‘s Super Bowl halftime performance be the key to this “new project?”
