Victoria’s Secret is one of the latest national retailers to come under fire on charges of racially profiling customers. According to the Huffington Post, an employee at the Quintard Mall location in Oxford, Alabama, was recently fired after allegedly telling two African-American women to leave the store because they were Black.

Kimberly Houzah, one of the shoppers, took to social media to writes about the encounter. In a ten-minute Facebook Live video, she said the incident occured after a Black woman was caught shoplifting, prompting employees to tell Houzah to also leave.

“[The employee] didn’t check my bag, she didn’t accuse me of stealing, but because another black person happened to get caught stealing, we gotta be affiliated,” Houzah says in the recording. The video has garnered nearly 1 million views.

As the video circulated around the web, many people turned to Victoria’s Secret for answers. The lingerie company took to Facebook on Wednesday night to release a statement related to the matter. “We take the experience of our customer at the Quintard Mall very seriously and have reached out to her directly to express our sincere apology. What happened at our store should not have happened and does not represent who we are or what we stand for,” posted the company. “The store associate involved in this matter is no longer employed with the company. Victoria’s Secret is adamant that all customers regardless of race be treated with dignity and respect at all times.”
