The albums that started it all for Southern legends 8 Ball and MJG make their digital debut.
RhymeJunkie.com reports the first ever digital release of two classic 8Ball & MJG albums; “Comin Out Hard” and “On The Outside Looking In” featuring the classic tracks “Mr. Big”, “Armed Robbery” and “Lay It Down” plus 3 unreleased bonus tracks mixed by the legendary DJ Screw.
Even HARDER on digital, 8Ball and MJG’s “Comin Out Hard” and “On The Outside Looking In” albums managed to hide from digital distribution even longer than the Beatles.
It’s been more than 20 years since the original releases on CD and cassette and only now are they making their way to digital stores worldwide. It’s all thanks, in part, to SoSouth Music Distribution LLC via Ingrooves.
These classic underground albums paved a road for the South in 1993, way before the term “Dirty South” existed. They helped legitimize a genre, launched an enduring record label (Suave House) and catapulted 8Ball and MJG into a level held by only a few Southern rappers. The duo and these albums are iconic, influencing many of today’s hottest rappers.
“I believe they are living legends,” rapper Yo Gotti tells the Memphis Flyer. “That’s that Memphis fly playa pimp shit, that cognac – smooth, real smooth,” says Rick Ross (Rolling Stone).
