Kesha is back and rawer than ever! Today she announced the release of her next full-length album Rainbow, Aug. 11th and released the music video for the first single. This will be her first full-length release since Warrior in 2012. On her new track “Praying,” Kesha addresses her legal troubles with former producer Dr. Luke, which began back in 2014.
The singer accused the super-producer of sexual and emotional abuse, and he counter-sued for defamation and breach of contract. During the legal battle, Kesha was locked in the contract with Dr. Luke’s label Kemosabe Records, leaving her unable to produce any music with anyone else. However, as of April, Dr. Luke is no longer the CEO of Kemosabe, and parent company Sony, plans to end its relationship with the producer altogether.

Praying is here 🙏 I hope this song reaches people who are in the midst of struggles, to let them know that no matter how bad it seems now, you can get through it. “This song is about coming to feel empathy for someone else even if they hurt you or scare you,” Kesha writes of “Praying” for Lenny Letter. “It’s a song about learning to be proud of the person you are even during low moments when you feel alone. It’s also about hoping everyone, even someone who hurt you, can heal.”
