Method Man calls out Hip Hop magazine XXL after a published article that the emcee found disrespectful.
“This is the reason I don’t like doing interviews for anything Hip Hop as far as magazines go because they are the bloodsuckers of the culture if you ask me,” Method Man says in the interview with HuffPost Live. “They’re the reason why a lot of this crap that’s coming out now flies because they’re co-signing. What the people don’t understand is that they get paid to co-sign it.”
The XXL Article titled “Method Man Thinks Waiting 88 Years to Release ‘Once Upon a Time in Shaolin’ is Stupid” was posted March 4. Method Man reportedly spoke to XXL over the phone and did not hold back his sentiment toward the recent album.
“I’m tired of this s*** and I know everybody else is tired of it, too,” Method Man said to XXL. “F*** that album, if that’s what they are doing. I haven’t heard anything like that, but if they’re doing crap like that, fuck that album. Straight up. I’m just keeping it 100. When music can’t be music and y’all turning it into something else, fuck that. Give it to the people, if they want to hear the shit, let them have it.”
Method Man says he felt misquoted in the article and he responded via Instagram.
