20 Years ago (1997) The Jock Jam was released and became my first Gold Record as a producer along with Chicago DJ Bobby Dedic.  The Jock Jam was a Mega Mix of the biggest stadium Anthems that was part of the ESPN/Tommy Boy Records Jock Jams CD compilations series.  It also featured some familiar ESPN and Sports personalities including Michael Buffer.  Although, the mega mix was only 3 minutes long, it took us several months to produce.  We had to go through a long process of putting in songs that had to be cleared and then uncleared.  We must have gone through at least 10 versions before it was all said and done.

The song received massive airplay and peaked at #31 on the Billboard Hot 100.  It also became a staple at every major sporting event, cheerleading competitions, and weddings for years to come.  It was RIAA certified Gold selling over 500,000 in October about a month after it’s release.

Happy Birthday Jock Jam! Check out the video
