Today another new development happened in the production of the Tupac movie.

Less than a week after announcing that the Tupac biopic is on hold, director John Singleton has stepped away from the project all together.

Carl Franklin, who has worked on projects such as Homeland and multiple HBO series, has been tapped as Singleton’s replacement. The director made his announcement via an Instagram post claiming that the reason he is no longer involved in the film is “because the people involved aren’t really respectful of the legacy of Tupac Amaru Shakur.”

Last week John Singleton talked with XXL Magazine  Singleton hints that there was some friction amongst the parties making the film. “It’s very intimidating because, like I said, you just want to get it right,” he explained.
