We’ve now found a new “Dress” debate! Someone grabbed a recording and attempted to figure out if they were hearing “Yanny” or “Laurel”.
Social media is torn on the issue and according to our good friends and poll experts over at Buzzfeed, there is a reason why you’re hearing either “Yanny” or “Laurel.” The answer? SCIENCE.
And … there are also jokesters out there.
How wild have people gotten into making sure they’re hearing what they think they’re hearing? They broke out the voice modulators.
The “Yanny” bit is in a higher and more nasal pitch, whereas “Laurel” is in a bass register.
So here we go. Take our poll down below. What do YOU hear? Do you hear “Laurel” or do you hear “Yanny?” Apparently there is no wrong answer. Except to your friends, because your friends definitely will judge you if you hear one or the other.
