Apple announced yesterday that an update coming to the iPhone later this year will include a feature that allows 911 dispatchers to find your exact location using the GPS on your phone.

As of now, when calling 911 from a cell phone, it only shows dispatchers your general area based on what cell phone tower is near you, which can sometimes be hundreds of yards away.

Another problem is sometimes the person calling doesn’t know their exact location or aren’t able to communicate it.

If you DON’T want them to know your exact location (aka you think you are invincible and will never need to call them) you can turn the feature off.
